Tech Affairs Council: Overview of the Colorado Privacy Act

Join us for a special presentation by the Colorado Department of Law on the Colorado Privacy Act, which will go into effect July 1st. We'll discuss new rights for consumers as well as obligations for covered businesses under the new law. Our presenter will also summarize key considerations for compliance - come with questions!

Stevie DeGroff, Assistant Attorney General, Colorado Department of Law

Stevie DeGroff is an Assistant Attorney General at the Colorado Department of Law focused on privacy regulation and enforcement through the Colorado Privacy Act. She worked with a cross-functional team to draft regulations for the Colorado Privacy Act, including regulations governing dark patterns, profiling, consumer privacy rights, and data protection assessments. Additionally, Stevie supports enforcement of the Colorado Consumer Protection Act as it relates to the internet and emerging technology as well as Colorado’s data security law. Prior to joining the Colorado Department of Law, she was in private practice advising companies on privacy and cybersecurity compliance as well as issues in emerging technology including ethics and artificial intelligence, evaluating algorithmic bias, facial recognition, drones, and autonomous vehicles. 

Stevie received her J.D. at Stanford Law School, where she was the editor-in-chief of the Stanford Technology Law Review, and received her A.B. at Harvard University.
